  • What’s a small but powerful tool you use in therapy sessions? A small but powerful tool I use in therapy is helping clients practice acceptance of difficult emotions. Learning to pause, name the feeling, and stay present with it, rather than fighting or avoiding it, can create space for clarity, regulation, and more intentional responses.

If mental health had a mascot, what would it look like to you? The characters in Inside Out make powerful mental health mascots because they show that all emotions (even the uncomfortable ones) have value and purpose. By personifying feelings like Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust, they help normalize emotional experiences and make conversations about mental health more approachable and relatable.

What helps you stay well? Movement is one of the biggest ways I stay well, it helps me reconnect with my body, release stress, and reset mentally. Whether it’s a walk outside or a more intentional workout, moving reminds me to slow down and be present.

About Salwa

If you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or affected by past or ongoing relational stress, therapy can be a place to slow things down and feel supported. I offer trauma-informed, attachment-based therapy for teens, adults, and families, with a strong focus on safety, trust, and emotional attunement.

My work integrates EMDR, somatic and experiential strategies, and evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, and ACT. I’m especially supportive of clients who feel emotionally flooded or shut down, stuck in cycles of anxiety or self-criticism, or navigating the effects of relational or attachment-based trauma. Sessions are collaborative and paced with care, balancing insight with practical tools for regulation and change.

Alongside a history of trauma treatment in high-functioning adults, I have extensive experience supporting young people with big emotions, school stress, and family challenges, and I work closely with parents and caregivers to strengthen communication and emotional safety at home. Clients often describe me as warm, steady, and thoughtful in my approach. My goal is to help you feel understood while building resilience and meaningful, lasting change. I offer in-person sessions in Vaughan/Woodbridge, and support virtual clients across Ontario. Book a session or consult above to get started.
